About me & my Tuition Service
Bachelors’ & Masters’ degrees
I graduated with Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees specialising in Composition. During my time at university I wrote music for the Atéa Wind Quintet, Harriet Mackenzie and Mavron Quartet. In addition, I won the Cardiff University Brass Ensemble 2022 Composition competition. Most of my pieces centre around harmony, extended techniques, timbre, microtonality and ethnomusicology.
In Composition:
Electric & Acoustic
I offer one-to-one in-person electric & acoustic guitar lessons. I’ve been playing electric guitar since I was 12 years old. Having received my Grade 8 Rock school certificate (distinction) back in 2017, I can teach from beginner to advanced on electric, and beginner to intermediate for acoustic. My lessons cover a broad range of styles including Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Country & Fingerstyle. In addition, I’m also DBS certified. All ages are welcome!
Guitar Tuition:
Creating Bespoke Musical
I have had the pleasure of creating musical arrangements for renowned ensembles such as Farnham and the Ember Big Band. These opportunities have allowed me to craft arrangements that enhance their unique sound, showcasing my dedication to delivering music that resonates with both musicians and audiences.
Arrangements:
GCSE/A-Level/Degree Level
I offer support tuition to GCSE, Degree and A-level students. These sessions will be centred mostly around composition, though history and general music theory is also included. I will guide students on how to compose in the western-classical idiom. This will include historical composition practices, instrumentation, appropriate harmony, melodic phrasing.
